Winter Skin Care Routine

With the cold winter climate and use of heaters and hot showers it can leave our skin dry and scaily during the season. We must adjust our skincare as well as our makeup routine as our face will be prone to dryness and will need extra moisture!

Step 1:

Cleanse your face with a soap free cleanser. We recommend Dermalogica Special Cleansing Gel as they are soap-free and contain no alcohol. It also contains ingredients which help calm the skin. So if after washing your face and your face is red we recommend you try this cleanser.

Step 2:

Apply 4 drops of rose-hip oil onto the palm of your hand, eg. Atkin's, and press into your skin.

*note: Rose-hip oil is good for acne scars as it helps fade them. Overall, it is like a multivitamin for your skin, preventing signs of aging, such as wrinkles, caused by sun exposure by protecting the collagen which helps us look plump. Especially, if you do have scaring you want to retain and promote as much collagen as possible to lift pitted scarring.

Step 3:

Apply a rich moisturiser, we recommend Clinique Dramatically Different Moisturising Lotion s it is oil-free and helps bring your skin's moisture level to the right level.
Message into hands than press into skin to avoid causing wrinkles and allow to dry.

*note: It is a must to have 2 different moisturisers during the year, one the the colder seasons and one for the warmer seasons.

Step 4:

Apply a primer to smooth dry patches and fill wrinkles in. This allows us to have a smooth base for your foundation so that when you do apply your foundation it does not hang on to dead, dry skin which create an unsightly appearance of cracked skin. It also creates an illusion that you have caked your make-up on. Clinique has just released its range of SUPERprimers which help combat different problems.

Step 5:

Apply an eye cream. This helps those crows-feet and any other wrinkles disappear.

Step 6:

Apply concealer where needed. We recommend Clinique's as this one does not sink into creases and provides a great coverage.

Step 7:

Apply a mineral based foundation, these come in powder or liquid form. Mineral make-up helps your skin and thus is perfect for winter.

Step 8:

You can now apply blush and mascara, etc as you please. View our other blogs for inspiration, especially our Winter Palette Blog :)
